POSITION OPEN NOW:

ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF RELIGIOUS EDUCATION (ADRE)

The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Salem is presently seeking a quarter-time ADRE for its Lifespan Religious Education Program. A person who would succeed in this position will be energetic, imaginative, initiative taking, and flexible; would work well as a member of a team in an active and growing congregation (over 100 children registered); and is able to set priorities and manage time efficiently. An understanding of children’s spiritual, emotional, and physical growth and development, plus strong written and verbal communication and computer skills are desirable. ADRE candidates must be members in good standing of a Unitarian Universalist congregation or have a demonstrated commitment to Unitarian Universalism. The deadline for applications is August 4, 2006.

ADRE Description

This is a quarter-time (10 hours per week), ten-month position. The ADRE works under the direction of the Director of Religious Education to implement Lifespan RE Program activities. In addition, the Associate DRE is responsible for planning and coordinating the summer RE program. While the DRE coordinates the ADRE’s tasks, job performance is supervised by the minister. This is a professional, salaried, exempt position. Work on Sunday and some evenings is part of the job.

Areas of Responsibility:

The ADRE will work collaboratively with the DRE in the implementation of Lifespan program activities, which include:

  • Sunday children’s program for nursery through 8th grade
  • OWL classes for K/1, 4/5/6 and Junior Youth
  • YRUUs
  • Young Adult Group
  • Covenant groups (small group ministry)
  • Adult Classes
  • Strategic Planning
  • Congregational Leadership Training
  • Intergenerational Worship
  • Summer RE Program

Compensation

Compensation includes salary and professional expenses informed by UUA guidelines.
